TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement)
| This revolutionary new procedure
uses a catheter through an incision in the leg -- instead of open
heart surgery -- to replace the aortic valve. Typical hospital recovery
after TAVR is one to three days, much less than open heart surgery. It
presents a new option for people who are not candidates for open heart
surgery. TAVR has been the most anticipated cardiovascular procedure in
the U.S. and it is available at the Prairie Heart Institute at St.
John's Hospital.
