    2013

    • Prairie Heart Institute at St. John's received the platinum performance achievement award from the National Cardiovascular Data Registry for meeting 11 key quality and treatment measures at least 90% of the time for eight consecutive quarters.
    • Cardiac Institute of Quality designation by Aetna Insurance Company.
    • St. John’s was designated a Blue Distinction Center for cardiac care by BlueCross and BlueShield of Illinois.
    • A Circle of Excellence Award from Comparion Medical Analytics for being ranked in the top 10% of hospitals in the U.S. for cardiac care, cancer care and trauma care.
    • Prairie Heart earned for the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline Gold Performance Achievement Award for its care of heart attack patients.
    • Prairie Heart Institute at St. John’s Hospital was recognized as one of HealthGrades’ 100 Best Hospitals for Cardiac Surgery™ (2013, 2012 & 2011).
    • Prairie Heart is a HealthGrades five-star recipient for Cardiac Surgery (2013 & 2012); Coronary Bypass Surgery (2013, 2012 & 2011); Valve Surgery (2013, 2012, 2011 & 2010); and for treatment of Heart Failure (2013, 2012 & 2011).
    • Becker’s Hospital Review named St. John’s one of the “100 hospitals for great heart programs.”
    • Truven Health Analytics named the Prairie Heart Institute at St. John’s Hospital one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals.

    2012

    • St. John's Prairie Heart Institute performed the first Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure in downstate Illinois on January 12. This revolutionary new procedure does not require traditional open heart surgery, but instead uses a catheter through an incision in the leg to replace the aortic valve.     • St. John’s and its Prairie Heart Institute was named one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Thomson Reuters (2012 & 2011).
    • Prairie Heart qualified for the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline Gold Performance Achievement Award for its care of heart attack and heart failure patients.
    • U.S. News and World Report named Prairie Heart Institute at St. John’s Hospital as one of the best regional hospitals for cardiology and heart surgery (2012 & 2011).

    2011

    • Prairie Cardiovascular cardiologists at St. John’s Hospital were the first to enroll a patient into Lutonix’s LEVANT 2, a global randomized trial, evaluating the safety and efficacy of the Moxy™ Drug Coated Balloon compared to a standard angioplasty balloon for the treatment of peripheral arterial disease.
    • Society of Chest Pain Centers awarded Prairie Heart at St. John’s the Chest Pain Center accreditation.
    • Consumer Reports identified Prairie Heart at St. John’s one of the nation’s Top 50 Heart Bypass Programs.
    • St. John’s received Primary Stroke Center and Advanced Heart Failure Treatment accreditation from The Joint Commission.
    • St. John’s Prairie Heart Institute received a three-star rating from UnitedHealthcare® for cardiac surgery, interventional cardiac care and heart rhythm management.
    • Prairie Heart earned the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline Gold Performance Achievement Award for its care of heart failure patients.
    • St. John’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program received certification from the American Association of Cardiovascular Pulmonary Rehab.
