Shyam K. Bhat, MD, SIU School of Medicine, has joined the healthcare professionals at St. John’s Center for Living to launch an Integrative Medicine Program. Dr. Bhat is a board certified internist and a board certified psychiatrist. Originally from India, Dr Bhat integrates an understanding of yoga and meditation along with the latest in Western medicine. Dr. Bhat graduated from Bangalore Medical College, one of the top five medical schools in India. He began his psychiatry training in England, then moved to the United States to train in both internal medicine and psychiatry so he could pursue his goal of practicing a more holistic form of medicine.
After completing a combined internal medicine and psychiatry residency at the SIU School of Medicine, Dr. Bhat joined SIU as Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Psychiatry. He has been a lifelong practitioner of meditation and yoga and practices an evidence-based approach to integrative medicine.
Dr. Bhat is available for Integrative Medicine consultation services, including comprehensive evaluation and development of a treatment plan. The initial appointment is $300 (fee for service). Follow-up visits are $150. To make an appointment, call (217) 544-LIVE.
