Harnessing the Power of the Positive
  • Harnessing the Power of the Positive

Researchers in neuroscience are discovering that the thoughts people think and the experiences they focus on can actually change the shape of the brain and it’s neural pathways.  “Neurons that fire together, wire together.”  The bad news is that those who focus on negative experiences and negative patterns of thought tend to relate to the circumstances and people in their lives in ways that trigger stress reactions in mind and body.  And stress has been identified as a contributing factor to cardio-vascular disease, cancer, chronic back pain, obesity, and weakening of the immune system. The good news is that it is possible “rewire” the brain so that one’s mental states are more positive. People who focus on the positive have greater resilience in the face of the stresses of life and move though life in a greater state of relaxation.
