Coping with Cancer - A Mind-Body Approach New!

Instructor(s):   Bridget Rolens, MA, BSOT

Location:   Center for Living Classroom

Description:   Receiving a diagnosis of cancer is life-altering. Those diagnosed with cancer know surviving cancer is more than just killing cancer cells and getting through treatment. They must also deal with the stress created by the emotional, spiritual, physical and relational fallout of a cancer diagnosis. A research study showed that cancer patients who participated in a mind-body based program reported a reduction in mood disturbances such as depression, anxiety, anger and confusion, as well as a reduction in symptoms of stress, such as cardiopulmonary and gastrointestinal symptoms. This six week psycho-educational group program provides a supportive environment for learning how to minimize stress and maximize a sense of health and well-being using a variety of mind-body medicine strategies.
